Laboratory Tour

For an additional cost, larger pre-booked groups of more than 6 people may also arrange to have an extended tour, which takes a further 20 to 30 minutes and includes the laboratories, which houses between 3,000 and 4,000 caterpillars.

This tour provides an opportunity to view first hand the breeding laboratory through special viewing windows.

A guide will show the group the caterpillars in their varying stages of development, explaining why caterpillars find it necessary to change their skins five times, and how they differ physically to butterflies. Explanations will also be given as to why it is so advantageous for these creatures to transform themselves from caterpillars to butterflies.
